Psychological principles that underpin the book
In our story, Finn's journey to manage his Cheeky Worries is founded on psychological principles taken from traditional psychological models, compassion focused therapy, mindfulness, lessons in kindness and cognitive behavioural therapy.
We have described these below to be used alongside the book or as a stand alone guide. They detail the principle, how it can be explained and some suggested exercises. The principles appear in chronological order matching the book.
We use these as the foundation of the school workshops we offer but can be used just as easily by parents at home. We hope they serve as a point of deeper enquiry and understanding for you and your child.
